The Dream
Like many good businesses, Eagle Custom Apparel started humbly. It began in 2004 as Dugout Sports, a small family-owned shop specializing in baseball and softball equipment, created by Tim and Lisa Dutton to outfit their own children and the teams they coached. The spark came from frustration: after a difficult experience finding the right equipment for his daughter, Tim saw how a lack of real expertise and customer service was making it hard for families and local teams to gear up with confidence. He set out to fill that gap—and help his community's players and organizations get the quality uniforms and jerseys they needed, backed by people who actually knew the game.
Small Beginnings
Dugout Sports opened its doors in The Woodlands, Texas, serving individual customers, local tournament teams, and area high schools from its retail store. Before long, those clients began asking for more—especially custom sports apparel and uniforms. Tim and Lisa saw a natural opportunity to grow. They invested in their first screen-printing equipment and began printing in-house, steadily building out the custom printing and embroidery services that would become the heart of the business.
Business Expansion
As demand for custom apparel grew, so did the operation. The retail store and production floor expanded to more than triple the footprint of the original shop. In 2020, the Duttons launched the Eagle Custom Apparel brand to serve their rapidly broadening clientele. What began as a resource for local ballplayers now outfits businesses, schools, travel teams, and leagues—and just about anyone in the Houston area who needs high-quality custom apparel and uniforms.
Family-Owned Small Business
More than twenty years after opening its doors, Dugout Sports and Eagle Custom Apparel remain among the most respected family-owned businesses in the community. Tim and Lisa are now joined by their two adult children, Michael and Brandi, who have quite literally grown up in the business—both started helping out as high schoolers when the doors first opened in 2004. Today, in their thirties, they help lead it: Brandi manages the production facility, overseeing the quality and craftsmanship behind every order, while Michael drives business development, building the relationships and partnerships that keep the company growing. With a hands-on production process, an eye for quality, and a genuine understanding of the teams and organizations they serve, the company is widely recognized as an authority in Texas team sports. Much has changed over the decades, but the fundamentals haven't: a dedication to high-quality products, deep product knowledge, and outstanding customer service still drive everything they do.

David Sauer was extremely helpful in helping me select the right jersey for my skydiving team. He provided multiple choices in jersey style, colors, graphics, and text. We recently went to Abu Dhabi to train in the world's largest vertical wind tunnel. I surprised them with the jerseys that David designed based on my requirements. The jerseys were a big hit with the team. They loved the sizing and quality of the material, as well as the graphics.
